2025 Summer Internship Program



Location:


This role is scheduled to be 100% remote. While remote, finalists MUST reside in one of the following states to be eligible for employment with Kaiser Permanente: CA, OR, WA, HI, CO, GA, MD, VA, CT, DC, or IL.

Thriving Schools is an innovative, dynamic team that solves complex challenges in public education to ensure our members, families and communities have equitable access to learning opportunities that support their long-term health and well-being. We lead national initiatives that focus on delivering resources, tools and strategies that support the physical, social and mental health of teachers, staff and students and their families across our KP markets. An emerging priority within the team's portfolio of work is supporting implementation of new legal and regulatory requirements to cover and coordinate care with schools in California. This will be one of the primary focus areas of the intern's time with the Thriving Schools team.



Intern Project(s):


1. Conducting a landscape analysis to document best practices and recommendations for supporting care coordination and data sharing between schools and health systems.
2. Supporting the development of a new dashboard to track and report on school behavioral health services delivered to KP members in schools.
3. Supporting KP's to engage national health and education leaders in efforts to advance efforts to address the health-related causes of chronic absence.

Target Skills:


Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Experience conducting landscape analyses and literature reviews
Knowledge of health plans and care delivery systems; knowledge of school health and/or public schools is strongly preferred
Knowledge Microsoft Office Suite: PPT, Outlook, Doc, Excel, Teams

  • Contributing to a designated project or initiative to meet a KP business objective.

  • Report development and analytics.

  • Project management - planning, execution, and measurement.

  • Learning new applications needed to complete assignments or support the execution of business objectives.

  • Job shadowing in other functional areas.

  • Performing additional duties as required.

  • Pursuing a graduate degree or have completed a graduate program from an accredited university within the last year.

Additional Requirements:

  • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • 3.0 GPA or above
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.
