Description:
Job Summary:

Supervises, monitors, and ensures high quality cost effective food services for inpatient, Skilled Care Facility, cafeteria, and catering areas. Oversees daily foodservice operations. Collaborates with other Food and Nutrition Services management in planning, development and implementation of department programs, policies, and goals. Supervises assigned staff.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Supervises daily food service operation for hospital patients, skilled care facility residents, cafeteria and catering services to ensure compliance to food production, food service, sanitation, safety, security and health regulations and standards. Enforces security and cash control procedures per policy. Plans weekly employee schedules and updates or redistributes staff as needed to cover shortages. Assist with coordinating staffing for catering functions.  Processes and approve employee TIME. Supervises sanitation and HACCP on a day to day basis. Monitors department activities, redirecting workflow as required to ensure compliance with regulations.  Communicates daily activities and reports issues to appropriate staff. 70%

  • Maintains regulatory logs per requirement. Conducts audits to ensure high quality of food and service performance standards are met. Assists in conducting orientation, in-service education/training, competency assessment and process improvement programs for food service personnel.  Assists with equipment oversight, and communicates with Operations Manager and Maintenance department on equipment repairs. 15 %

  • Provides input and assists with oversight of food service budgets, daily preparation of bank deposits (reconciles and resolves discrepancies), and compiles data and information for financial reports. Prepares, audits and maintain data for monthly financial statement preparation. Participates in policy and procedure development, and implementation. Supervises and performs receiving and inspection of purchases of food items, supplies and equipment during absence of Operations Manager.

  • Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines, and terminates assigned staff as appropriate.

  • Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, and authority parameters to assigned staff.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience


  • Minimum four (4) year food service experience.

  • Minimum two (2) years in a supervisory role.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in dietetics, food service management OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A
Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of regulatory state and federal requirements specific to health care organizations.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, decision making, customer service, influence, interpersonal relations, oral and written communication, problem solving, and quality management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, spreadsheet, and database PC applications.
  • Current SERVSAFE Manager certificate or successful completion of a comparable sanitation course within the past year.
  • LANAI REQUIREMENT: (may be obtained within 6 months of hire): Specialized education or training in food service management and safety resulting in an asociates or higher degree in hospitality or food service management, OR a bachelors or higher degree granted by a regionally accredited college or university in the United States, OR a certified dietary manager, OR a certified food service manager.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years food service experience in a hospital, or healthcare, facility.
  • Certification by approved Certified Dietary Managers Program (CDM).
