Job Summary:

Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates imaging services and Heart/Brain/Vascular (HBV) services for the Maui Health System.. Directs day-to-day operations, focusing on service standards and cost-efficiency. Establishes, evaluates, and maintains quality control and quality assurance standards. Collaborates with physician chief in planning of major facility construction, renovation projects, and new technology. Develops and monitors payroll and non-payroll budgets for departments. Ensures compliance with TJC, NRC, MQSA, federal, state and local agencies. Serves as role model. Supervises assigned staff.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Directs overall operations of Diagnostic Imaging services and Heart/Brain/Vascular (HBV) and all non-physician employees engaged in providing these services. Oversees technical operations through supervisors, chiefs, and/or leads. Maintains responsibility for maintenance of imaging and Heart/Brain/Vascular (HBV) records and file archiving.

  • Develops and implements strategic planning processes for the development of Diagnostic Imaging and Heart/Brain/Vascular (HBV) services, including the adoption of new technologies. Participates with management, medical staff, and other leaders in organizations decision-making structures and processes. Collaborates with Chief of Radiology and Director of Ancillary Services.

  • Establishes and maintains long- and short-range capital resource plans and payroll/non-payroll budgets. Performs regular variance analysis to monitor financial performance to targets.

  • Ensures department and unit goals are aligned with organizations goals and objectives. Collaborates with the physicians, internal with the two departments and with the Regions departments in gaining efficiencies and growth opportunities.

  • Achieves appropriate member, staff, and internal customer satisfaction results by providing a safe, responsive, and accessible customer-focused environment.

  • Develops organizational and leadership structures which achieve strong line and team accountability.

  • Implements and maintains an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess, and continually improve the quality of diagnostic imaging and Heart/Brain/Vascular (HBV)services. Monitors and evaluates activities to detect risk areas. Creates action plans to reverse unfavorable trends.

  • Monitors TJC, MQSA, NRC, ARC and other regulatory agency standards. Assimilates and analyzes evolving standards and ensures compliance. Responsible for Systemwide Radiation Safety standards, monitoring and reporting to the necessary hospital and medical staff committees.

  • Monitors compliance with organizational programs in Patient Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, HIPAA, and others.

  • On a regular basis, updates pricing and billing information in collaboration with appropriate departments.

  • Participates with leaders from management and medical staff in developing, implementing, reviewing, revising, and monitoring organization-wide performance improvement activities.

  • Serves on various administrative, hospital, and interregional committees and attends other meetings as required.

  • Develops and promotes an environment which supports professional practice and development, and team building.

  • Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines, and terminates assigned staff as appropriate.

  • Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, and authority parameters to assigned staff.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience


  • Minimum eight (8) years of diagnostic imaging services management experience in large medical center.

  • Minimum four (4) years of supervisory experience.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in health care, business administration, or related field; or four (4) years experience in a directly related field.
  • Required graduate of an accredited radiology technologists program.
License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A
Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of imaging technologies and equipment with quality control measures.
  • Knowledge of TJC, NRC, and pertinent state regulations governing accreditation and radiation health and safety.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in change management, conflict resolution, decision making, group process facilitation, influence, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, project management, quality management, systems thinking, team building, strategic planning, written communication, and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in cath lab or interventional radiology.
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Masters degree in healthcare, business administration, or related field.
