Provide high quality cardiovascular care to Kaiser Permanente members in a cost effective manner and in accordance with accepted professional practice standards and in collaboration with other members of the Cardiovascular Healthcare team.
- Review cardiac patients to evaluate for appropriateness of workup and treatment plans and to ensure the appropriate level of care is provided. Perform cardiology consultations when indicated or requested. Specific duties include but are not limited to completing histories and physicals, reviewing cardiac studies, ordering diagnostic studies and medications, providing pre-procedure education, writing admitting orders and scheduling procedures as need. Collaborates with Cardiovascular service line.
- Provide comprehensive outpatient cardiovascular care in collaboration with the Cardiovascular Service line and other members of the health care team. This may include initial consultation/evaluation. Provides ongoing management of chronic cardiovascular disease.
- Provide outpatient clinic follow-up for patients discharged following cardiac procedures and for patients needing ongoing cardiac outpatient care as determined by a physician. Specific duties may include ordering tests and medications, ordering therapy and rehabilitation services, providing post-procedural education, writing discharge and transfer orders, and dictating discharge summaries. Rounding and responding to patient needs as determined by a supervising physician.
- Perform other duties as requested. Actively participates in message management to include physician in-basket and virtual care of the patient.
- Minimum three (3) years (within the past ten (10) years) cardiovascular, critical care or emergency room experience as a PA/NP OR minimum of three (3) years in Cardiology (within the last 10 years) as a PA/NP OR minimum of three (3) years (within the last 10 years) as a Registered Nurse in Cardiology or Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) or Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) or Cardiovascular Lab (CVL).
- Graduate of ANA-approved Nurse Practitioner or AMA-approved Physician Assistant program or equivalent requirements to meet State licensure.
- High school diploma or GED.
- This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required before hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post hire.
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire AND Nurse Practitioner National Certificate AND Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License (Washington) within 6 months of hire AND Nurse Practitioner License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire AND Registered Nurse License (Washington) within 6 months of hire
OR
- Physician Assistant License (Washington) within 6 months of hire AND Physician Assistant National Certificate AND Physician Assistant License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 3 months of hire
- National Provider Identifier required at hire
- Drug Enforcement Administration Registration
- Experience interpreting electrocardiograms and cardiology stress tests.
- Thorough knowledge of cardiovascular diseases and their medical/surgical treatment. Working knowledge of state health care laws, licensing board regulations and controlled substance regulations. Important to know limitations and when to refer patients to a cardiologist.
- Ability to assess, diagnose and plan effective treatment for cardiovascular disease and injuries. Ability to use appropriate procedural/testing equipment, to see large volume of patients, and to interface with cardiovascular team and support staff.
- Compact License is acceptable in lieu of a Washington RN license.
- Minimum five (5) years (within the past ten (10) years) cardiovascular, critical care or emergency room experience as a PA/NP.
- Experience interpreting electrocardiograms and cardiology stress tests.
