Description:
Job Summary:

Performs specific diagnostic pulmonary tests per physician prescription, including complete spirometry, DLCO (Diffusing Capacity of the lung for Carbon Monoxide), and Body Plethysmography. Serves as a resource to physicians and other staff regarding technical aspects of pulmonary tests. Maintains quality of pulmonary function test results by performing equipment calibration per manufacturers guidelines. Provides timely and accurate reporting of test results

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Performs complete spirometry, DLCO (Diffusing Capacity of the lung for Carbon Monoxide), and Body Plethysmography.

  • Serves as a resource to physicians and staff regarding technical aspects of pulmonary testing.

  • Provides timely and accurate reporting of Pulmonary Function test results.

  • Maintains quality of pulmonary test results by performing equipment calibration per manufacturers guidelines.

  • Performs and insures appropriate disinfection of Pulmonary Function Test equipment.

  • Participates in QA relating to Pulmonary Function testing.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience


  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a respiratory therapist, pulmonary function testing, or related experience.


Education


  • High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) required.

  • Graduate of a two (2) year Respiratory Therapy program.


License, Certification, Registration


  • Respiratory Care Practitioner License (Washington)



  • Basic Life Support required at hire



  • Pulmonary Function Technologist Certificate within 12 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of diagnostic studies, spirometry, DLCO (Diffusing Capacity of the lung for Carbon Monoxide), and Body Plethysmography.

  • Bachelors degree

  • Four (4) year graduate of Respiratory Therapy Program or science-related degree.

  • Additional education in pulmonary diagnostic testing.
