Summary:
This position supports Interventional Services providing clerical assistance and scheduling for Surgical Services supporting multiple service lines. TWO years of direct OR Scheduling experience required.
Essential Functions:
* The OR scheduler must able to efficiently and effectively use the resources surrounding operative events, by accurate and timely scheduling of cases, personnel and materials according to policies,
procedure and guidelines.
* Must review perioperative/ procedures, to identify any gross inaccuracies and missing data elements.
* Checks daily schedule for completeness and accuracy.
* Verifies discrepancies and coordinate change to manager.
* Prepares daily schedule according to established policy, make copies, distribute to designated departments. Secures patients chart and prepatory exams i.e. history and physicals, lab, x rays, previous
procedure reports, EKG's, consents etc.
* Performs specific scheduling functions with in case blocks, using KASIS, CIPS, moving cases from case depot, rescheduling cases, edit cases, and maintaining wait lists.
* When scheduling includes turn around times and case lengths.
* Works closely with surgeons, OR Scheduling administrators, department medical assistants, surgeons and other surgery schedulers as needed.
* Reconciles cases completed with computer scheduling systems.
* Answers telephones, communicates schedules, schedule changes, add on's to physicians, charge nurse, coordinating nurse, and other staff/ departments as necessary.
* Knows when to seek additional information, prioritizes, and performs several functions simultaneously and on a consistent basis.
* Originates departments downtime procedures when necessary.
Grade 6
* Demonstrates satisfactory competence in computer data entry systems similar to those used with Kaiser Permanente, or proficiency in work processing applications.
* Must have a working knowledge of PC's and ability to navigate in a Windows environment.
* Basic knowledge of office equipment (fax machine, copy machine, scanner).
* Ability to speak clearly, read, write and thoroughly understand English. Ability to learn and follow policy and procedures.
* Requires 2 years Surgery/ Procedure scheduling in either Operating Room, Clinic or Procedural area. Knowledge of surgical/ procedure supplies and equipment needing to be ordered.
* Skills Testing: MS office, Typing 30 WPM, Medical Terminology.
