Under minimal supervision, performs various duties and responsibilities related to the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the LIS, as well as performs special functions, e.g. interface testing.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develops staff training materials for upgrade training and for new employee training. Assist with the actual training classes. Develops methods to assure employee annual competency in computer operations.
- Maintain Point-of-Care Testing program.
- Assists in developing LIS reports to meet the needs of laboratory supervisors and managers.
- Assists with day-to-day file build of new tests, calculations, etc Supports laboratory supervisors in maintenance and creation of tests for their departments.
- Works with the LIS Program Manager and IT resources to develop and validate interfaces between LIS and provider EMRs. Performs and documents system validations for LAB upgrades. Assists department supervisors in validating new instrument interfaces, including developing the translation tables and validating auto\-verification.
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience as an MT/MLS or MLT\-HEW in a clinical or pathology laboratory accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), The Joint Commission (TJC) or other laboratory accrediting agency.
- Bachelors degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory sciences or health care related field.
- Medical Technologist Certificate required at hire
- Knowledge of concepts, principles and methodology of clinical laboratory technology in relation to laboratory information systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of laboratory operations and their relationship to the organization sufficient to provide advisory, inspection, training and problem-solving services on specific projects, programs or functions.
- Ability to adapt, implement, and integrate the use of software to specific laboratory applications and processes, including the use of office automation software.
- Ability to independently plan, organize, set priorities, work as a team member and effectively complete assignments.
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements for laboratory functions.
- Three (3) years of experience working with either SUNQUEST, BEAKER or CERNER LIS.
