Description:
Job Summary:

Designs, implements, presents, and evaluates health education programs and services. This includes coordinating and planning trainings or other educational encounters, maintaining educational and training resources, making updates to educational materials and courses, and analyzing and presenting data from classes and programs. Roles in this subfunction also assess and understand the individual needs of trainees, both from a classroom perspective and a broader population perspective.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Recommends developmental opportunities for others; builds collaborative, cross-functional relationships. Solicits and acts on performance feedback; provides team members with feedback; and mentors and coaches to drive performance improvement. Pursues professional growth; provides training and development to talent for growth opportunities; supports execution of performance management guidelines and expectations. Implements, adapts, and stays up to date with organizational change, challenges, feedback, best practices and processes. Fosters open dialogue, supports, mentors, engages, and motivates team members on collaboration. Delegates tasks and decisions as appropriate; provides appropriate support, guidance and scope.

  • Supervises and coordinates daily activities of designated work team or unit by monitoring the execution and completion of tactical action items and work assignments; ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Aligns team efforts and standards, and measures progress in achieving results; determines and carries out processes and methodologies; resolves escalated issues as appropriate. Develops work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; coordinates, obtains and distributes resources. Removes obstacles that impact performance; identifies and recommends improvement opportunities; influences teams to execute in alignment with operational objectives.

  • Supervises the assessment of member needs by: helping educators and other staff identify individual needs, interests, abilities, and a variety of learning styles; ensuring educators have resources to adjust courses and training programs to meet the needs of class participants, to create an inclusive environment which exceeds the needs of diverse groups; and helping the team to refer members to additional health education services, when appropriate.

  • Supervises the collection, analysis, and reporting on course data by: assisting in the collection of reliable data such as attendance utilization, referrals, and evaluations; ensuring educators have resources to analyze and report on course data while also supporting proposed solutions through strategic implementation; and presenting data and findings from courses supervised to keep relevant parties informed about course progress and initiatives, including department management team and leadership.

  • Supervises the delivery of education and training by: ensuring educators are using evidence-based education techniques and teaching methods in recurring interactions (e.g., classes); ensuring members are learning about the defined content area and leaving the course having met all course objectives, measuring satisfaction and feedback for the course and/or facilitator, and the value of the material; empowering educators to create a welcoming atmosphere in a classroom setting conducive to member learning; and providing educators and other staff with support and resources needed to translate evidence-based concepts into simple and understandable information for members.

  • Supervises the design and update of training by: providing guidance on the design of interactive activities, assignments, and testing appropriate for course goals and learning outcomes; ensuring educators have resources to develop high-quality, culturally responsive multi-media health education materials; and monitoring education and training programs to recommend and help implement changes.

  • Supervises the maintenance of educational resources by: identifying outdated information and making updates to multimedia health information resources within the department; supporting a team responsible for the maintenance of a database for educational resources and materials; and developing the long-term vision to align with departmental goals and ensuring new resources and materials are added to the database and old resources removed.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in health program development and management or a directly related field.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience teaching classes, or conducting training programs for groups or individuals, or delivering coaching or counseling in a one-on-one setting.

  • Minimum one (1) year of professional experience in healthcare involving clinical workflow/operations or clinical systems support.

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in healthcare environment or similar environment.

  • Bachelors Degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Counseling, Education, Psychology, Nursing, Nutrition, or related field AND minimum five (5) years of experience in health-related education or a directly related field, OR Minimum eight (8) years of experience in health-related education or a directly related field.
