Job Summary:

This manager level position is primarily responsible for providing clinical and budgetary oversight to ambulatory and acute care registered dietitian nutritionists within an integrated health care system. Manages personnel within a labor management partnership environment to create, implement, and evaluate evidenced based clinical nutrition practices to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, reduce per capita cost, and enhance the care experience.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Vision/Direction: Identify, design and implement new business strategies to improve the health of KP members, employees and the communities we serve through continuous quality improvement strategies that align with the organizations mission and objectives. Ensure evidence-based decision making is hardwired into practice by conducting competency assessment at regular intervals.  Manage all services within clinical guidelines, policies, procedures, and nationally established standards of practice.

  • Budget Management: Organize and manage clinical nutrition services in a cost effective manner by developing, monitoring and controlling the operating budget, reporting performance data, collaborative design and implementation of programs, services, use of new technologies to improve quality in serving our members, virtual care, innovative care delivery sites and modalities, policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements and support clinical nutrition services. Manages within budget authority.

  • Leadership and Operations Management: Utilizing Labor Management Partnership principles, create and maintain an environment that will ensure maximum performance from dietitian team. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices that maximize the effective use of personnel.. Recruit, hire and retain highly competent, professional and motivated staff. Coach, mentor and manage behaviors to deliver high-performing team, professionally satisfied staff.

  • Clinical oversight: Provides clinical leadership and oversight of professional practice standards, KP standards of care and clinical competency of staff in accordance with licensure and regulatory requirements. Implements, supervises and maintains clinical practice and quality management standards, staff competencies and on-going development in accordance with regulations and accreditation requirements. Develops clinical guidelines that result in nutrition protocols that support evidence-based practice and ensures patient safety at point of care. May perform patient care to the extent necessary to maintain clinical expertise and competency to fulfill job responsibilities.

  • Member Satisfaction: Achieve high member and patient satisfaction through collaborative and effective co-leadership of UBTs, continuous improvement work of teams, ongoing open communication which support a positive engaging work environment to continually improve the member experience and patient engagement.

  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience


  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a clinical dietitian.

  • Minimum three (3) years of management/supervisory experience.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
License, Certification, Registration
  • Dietitian License (Oregon) required at hire
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire
  • Registered Dietitian required at hire from American Dietetic Association
  • Commission on Dietetic Registration required at hire
Additional Requirements:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical nutrition
  • Demonstrated project management
  • Demonstrated effective communicator both written and oral.
  • Proficient with automated systems.
  • Proven skills in teambuilding, problem-solving and creativity.
  • Able to effectively address conflict.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct business in a complex, multi-departmental organizational structure, work with all levels of management
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum seven (7) years of management/supervisory experience in same specialty area or directly related management experience.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply The Joint Commission and Medicare Standards
  • Basic knowledge of enteral and parental nutrition products and treatment practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of clinical nutrition as related to disease for adult and pediatric patient
  • Masters degree in nutrition or Dietetics
