Description:
Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager or Chief Engineer, perform maintenance tasks and act as an assistant to Operating Engineers, Mechanics, Biomedical/M.I.E.S., and Painters.
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager or Chief Engineer, perform maintenance tasks and act as an assistant to Operating Engineers, Mechanics, Biomedical/M.I.E.S., and Painters.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and repair of light fixtures and lighting systems by replacement of lamps, covers, lenses, and other non-electrical components.
- Install and/or remove affixed items such as furnishings, signage, and medical equipment holders (E.N.T. lamps, B.P. gauges), etc.
- Uncrate and assemble items as directed.
- Unplug sinks and toilets with plunger or hand auger.
- Support Maintenance Services Personnel as a helper by performing minor preventive maintenance tasks on building systems; e.g., filter replacements, lubrications, coil cleaning, water treatment on fountains/features, provided Journeyman Engineer has performed initial securing of equipment, directed the work, does final inspection, and re-start of equipment.
- Perform minor building preventive maintenance and repairs on such items as: ceilings, minor plumbing operations (angle stop out), electrical cover plates, electrical receptacle testing, door hardware, flooring, walls, and furniture.
- Paint equipment, mechanical room floors, and perform minor patching/painting of architectural surfaces.
- Maintain cleanliness of department equipment and spaces.
- Order, pick up, and deliver parts, equipment, and supplies as needed/directed.
- Perform snow and ice removal when needed.
- Make adjustment to temperature levels as directed by Building Engineer.
- Use of power tools is limited to hand-held or floor/bench mounted (i.e., grinder, drill press, etc.).
- Perform other minor maintenance tasks as assigned.

- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
- Drivers License (in location where applicable)
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiencies in the use of basic hand and hand-held power tools.
- Should be mechanically inclined.
