2025 Summer Internship Program



Location:


This internship role is scheduled to be flexible. Please be prepared to spend part of your time working remotely and part of your time working at the following address: 393 East Walnut Street, Pasadena, CA 91188



Department Description:


Physician Relations is a unit within Physician Human Resources dedicated to providing advice and consultation to physicians and physician leaders. We provide guidance on a range of HR topics including performance management and workplace conduct. We conduct investigations and prepare summaries and reports for the Legal Department and regulatory agencies. 



Intern Project(s):


The principals in the department are high-level individual contributors known as Physician Relations Officers. The project involves the development and implementation of a comprehensive Physician Relations Officer onboarding program. The project will involve synthesizing available tools and resources into a reproducible program and securing stakeholder buy-in of the program from inception through implementation.

Human Resources; Healthcare Administration; Public Relations and Communications; Business Administration



Target Skills:


To develop a Physician Relations Officer onboarding plan, the graduate level intern must be curious about human resources topics, especially the employee relations function, and how these topics are addressed in a healthcare setting.


To implement a Physician Relations Officer onboarding program, the graduate intern should be flexible, resourceful, and thorough. To be more specific, the graduate intern should possess the following qualities and attributes: 


Technical Skills: 


Strong research skills – The intern should be able to gather information from various sources and analyze data effectively. 


Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Strong skills in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are essential for data analysis, presentation development, and report writing. 


Other Skills: 


Excellent communication skills – The intern should be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 


Strong interpersonal skills – The ability to build rapport with team members and stakeholders is critical. 


Attention to detail – The intern must be meticulous and accurate in their work. 


Problem-solving skills – The ability to identify problems, analyze situations, and develop creative solutions.  



Job Summary:

This position provides analytical support to a project or department. Under the guidance of a Project Manager/ Director, responsible for collecting and researching data, performing analysis, providing recommendations and presenting results.



Essential Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for contributing high level analytical support to a project or department requiring application of knowledge in marketing, information management, finance, management, economics or statistics.

  • This position contributes to a full range of project components.

  • Assigned to at least one project and expected to produce results and report out as a member of a project team.

  • Organizes assigned project tasks, identifies and structures information collection activities, and sets timelines for completion of required tasks as directed.

  • Develops tools to identify and to document best practices.

  • Prepares various excel, word or PowerPoint reports, and works with access database software (or similar tool) to develop data extracts and management information reports.

  • May be asked to produce graphic information using excel or PowerPoint or similar software.

  • Contributes to development of management information and analysis conducted, provides recommendations and assists with preparation of formal presentations to communicate results to various management levels.  Identifies alternative solutions to project issues.

  • Contributes to development project plans to ensure timely deliverables and successful completion of project and demonstrates an understanding of various business intersections.

  • Assists with identification and development of training information.
