Description:
The SCAL Clarity Management, Analytics and Reporting (CMAR) teams' primary role is to ensure the Clarity reporting database is current and available on a timely basis to allow for daily reporting needs. Our support includes ensuring Oracle Exadata environment stability, Clarity upgrades, resolving connectivity issues for Crystal Reports and SQL Developer, user enablement, HealthConnect to Clarity research and coordinating query optimization and assistance with KPIT.


Job Summary:

This individual contributor is primarily responsible for supporting data-informed decisions, supporting efforts to ensure data and resources are available to users in an orderly and secure way through data provisioning and ongoing security, and analyzing and developing database designs, data models, and relational data definitions in support of systems requirements under the guidance of more senior employees. This position provides ongoing database support, maintenance, and troubleshooting under the guidance of more senior employees, participates in the data strategy, and develops, implements, and automates business and reporting solutions.



Essential Responsibilities:

  • Completes work assignments by applying up-to-date expertise in subject area to generate creative solutions; ensuring all procedures and policies are followed; leveraging an understanding of data, and resources to support projects or initiatives; collaborating cross-functionally to solve business problems; identifying and monitoring priorities, deadlines, and expectations; communicating progress and information; identifying, recommending, and implementing ways to address improvement opportunities; and escalating issues or risks as appropriate.

  • Develops, implements, and automates business and reporting solutions by working with stakeholders in their design, planning, and implementation while ensuring consistency and coherency; summarizing data and results; creating summary statistics; organizing data reports, visualizations, and/or interactive Business Intelligence (BI) reports; identifying needs for the development and implementation of additional reporting solutions; and preparing documentation as appropriate.

  • Provides ongoing database support, maintenance, and troubleshooting under the guidance of more senior employees by identifying and fixing problems; locating and correcting oversights; ensuring the database meets expectations; identifying trends in the database users; ensuring optimized database performance; recommending new ways to improve the existing database; and scheduling times for upgrades and repairs for minimal impact to the company.

  • Participates in the data strategy by supporting a means to identify and represent content; researching optimal data storage methodologies; ensuring data are packaged in a way to be reused and shared; ensuring adherence to data rules and access guidelines; and identifying strategy for combining data residing in disparate systems into a unified, consistent data view.

  • Supports data-informed decisions by consulting with clients to identify and clarify key business needs; developing outcomes and process measures; translating business requirements; determining data/information needs and data collection methods; developing analysis plans; measuring the impact of business decisions on clients, customers, and/or members; working with clients and staff to identify opportunities and methods to improve efficiencies with analysis; supporting and training end-users; and documenting processes and deliverables.

  • Supports efforts to ensure data and resources are available to users in an orderly and secure way through data provisioning and ongoing security by translating business analytics needs into data access requirements; creating and preparing systems to provide data to users; granting users access to data repositories or systems, applications, and databases based on a unique user identity; monitoring data access on an ongoing basis; tracking and documenting version control; designing tracking and monitoring tools; tracking and reporting on data access; and ensuring data provisioning efforts adhere to IT compliance standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Analyzes and develops database designs, data models, and relational data definitions in support of systems requirements under the guidance of more senior employees by preparing data for analytic efforts; assessing the current data infrastructure; identifying areas in need of change; scoping the database using the ETL Architecture Standards and established look and feel; developing code to create the database; designing to database security standards; and testing and maintaining data integrity across multiple internal and/or external databases.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Social/Physical/Life Science, Business, or related field and Minimum three (3) years experience in data analytics, database configuration, architecture or management, or a directly related field. Additional equivalent work experience in a directly related field may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years experience working with SQL.
  • Two (2) years experience working with SAS.
  • Two (2) years relational database experience.
