The Vice President, Partnership Management, will play a critical role in KP-s overall enterprise strategy and growth and diversification agenda and will report to Senior Vice President, Enterprise Transformation. She/he will support the marketplace and enterprise efforts working with members of the national and market leadership teams. The VP plays a crucial role in driving the enterprises growth and innovation through effective partnership strategies. They will partner with Business Development on the identification of strategic investments, joint ventures, and other contractual partnerships and with National Health Plan-s large customers, then is primarily responsible for developing and managing strategic partnerships that align with the enterprises overarching business goals. This position requires a combination of strategic insight, relationship management skills, and a deep understanding of the enterprises goals and market dynamics. The position will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating work with various internal and external sponsors, stakeholders, and contributors. The Vice President, Partnership Management will be a key member of the leadership team within Enterprise Strategy and Business Development (ESBD), partnering across the team to develop and manage enterprise strategic growth.
- Partnership and Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within partner organizations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for partners, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Act as thought partner to and support internal operational stakeholders engaged in key partnerships (e.g., care delivery operations for hospital partnerships, KP-designated partnership board members)
- Facilitate regular meetings and updates to assess partnership performance and address any challenges.
- Ensure the partner is delivering against expectations and KP is delivering on expectations.
- Responsible for management and governance of relationship, escalating any issue or risks
- Contract Negotiation:
- Collaborate with Business Development, operational leaders, and Finance to negotiate partnership agreements, ensuring favorable terms that align with the enterprise-s interests.
- Collaborate with legal teams to draft and finalize contracts.
- Partnership Development:
- Participate in identifying and evaluating potential partners that align with the enterprises strategic objectives
- Participate with Business Development, National Accounts and Enterprise Business Services in relationship development activities
- Partnership strategy translation and execution: Translates enterprise strategy into actionable business plans, requirements, and work plans associated with KP-s strategic partnerships. Leads the development of multi-year roadmaps for priority strategic partnership.
- Cultivation of New Business Relationships: Identify and cultivate new business relationships that support the organization-s growth objectives. Explore opportunities for acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, and other strategic relationships.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including leaders from health plan, finance, IT, regions, Permanente, Risant, KPMF, and other national functions. Ensure alignment and support across all levels of the organization.
- External Networking: Develop and sustain a network of external peers, delivery system and health plan leaders, consultants, bankers, and other marketplace experts to stay informed about industry trends and opportunities.
- Executive & Board Communication/Approval: When applicable for strategy, develop and deliver a plan to gain support and approval from executive leadership and, when applicable, the KP Board of Directors.
- Standard Work Development: Establish and refine methodologies for the execution, ongoing development, and expansion of partnerships. Ensure that these methodologies are applied consistently and effectively across the organization as appropriate.
- Engagement of Internal & External Parties: Ensure the appropriate engagement of internal and external parties in all activities. This includes legal, compliance, finance, and other functions critical to the successful partnership management.
- Talent development:
- Mentor and develop team members to build a strong strategic capability within the organization
- Identify talent needs and support recruitment efforts to strengthen the strategy team
- Manages resource capacity and allocation to ensure appropriate progress
- Supervise, coach, and develop key members of the team fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring the team is equipped to meet the organization-s strategic goals.

- Track record in corporate and partnership management including health systems, physicians and other diversified businesses.

- In a highly complex system environment, the VP will be a systems thinker who is focused on advancing the entire organization. She/he will be a collaborative team player who looks for opportunities to align diverse constituents and breakdown silos. She/he will build partnerships through systemic influence by:
- Facilitating discussions to enable people to collaborate with each other independently; promoting collaboration across the entire KP organizational structure.
- Identifying and meeting with key players and stakeholders to help them shape a consensus collectively and engaging in a dialogue to reach a final conclusion together, compromising as necessary for results.
- Developing explicit understanding of which relationships are most important to the organization and its stakeholders and building a network prioritizing these relationships.
- At least five (5) years of experience in healthcare preferred
- Experience within a matrixed organization is preferred
