Description:
Manages the provision of medical equipment planning support for use in the architectural design and construction for complex capital projects; guiding staff in the development of equipment planning documents for new and existing care delivery environments with provision of technical and environmental requirements in support of contract documents; facilitates the implementation of medical equipment plans, including budgets and specifications, for KP medical facilities, major renovations, and expansion of existing medical facilities; establishes communication network among executive management, the project team, facility, regional personnel, and equipment manufacturers/vendors; utilizes innovation, ingenuity, and complex project management techniques to accommodate various internal and external stakeholder groups needs and conflicting demands to ensure the optimal use of medical equipment; and manages the teams functional analysis, value cost analysis, and forecasting as it relates to operations and facility.
Job Summary:

Essential Responsibilities:
- Provides developmental opportunities for others; builds collaborative, cross-functional relationships. Delegates tasks and decisions as appropriate; provides appropriate support, guidance, and scope; encourages development and consideration of options in decision making.
- Manages designated work unit or team by translating business plans into tactical action items; oversees the completion of work assignments and identifies opportunities for improvement; ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Aligns team efforts; builds accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; determines and ensures processes and methodologies are implemented; resolves escalated issues as appropriate; sets standards and measures progress. Fosters the development of work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; obtains and distributes resources. Removes obstacles that impact performance; identifies and addresses improvement opportunities; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; influences teams to execute in alignment with operational objectives.
- Manages the budget development and cost analysis process by: leveraging an in-depth knowledge in budgeting for all facets of projects and operations while managing and developing operational budgets and providing guidance to supervisors/leads in troubleshooting project budgets; and driving the application of strategies and concepts to guide the teams review of medical equipment costs, providing cost estimates throughout the life of the project as well as independently troubleshooting and managing budgets that are going over to resolve.
- Manages comparative equipment studies by: assessing the complexity of new healthcare related technologies, and disseminating innovative healthcare related technology to senior management; managing their teams functional analysis of the equipment as it relates to operations and facility; planning for the effective implementation of research and resolution of technical and functional issues according to defined periodization/severity scheme; and managing value cost analyses.
- Serves as a KP representative by: representing the department internally as well as to the broader external healthcare industry, in particular healthcare technology committees and workgroups; and establishing a communication network among executive management, the project team, facility, regional personnel and equipment manufacturers/vendors.
- Manages the medical equipment planning process by: driving the application of processes and programs for complex consultative support for national Facilities Services; leveraging advanced knowledge of medical equipment planning while planning for the effective implementation of work that supports all phases of the construction, deployment, and installation of capital projects; and assisting in the development of the equipment punch process and best practices, obtaining the tools needed for teams to succeed, and ensuring that activities are aligned with the department and company objectives.
- Manages the specification of medical equipment by: guiding medical equipment staff to evaluate, locate and recommend complex equipment to be purchased for new medical facilities, major renovations and expansion of existing medical facilities; driving strategies and concepts to prepare and review medical equipment lists for procurement and monitoring procurement activities; driving and defining the issues and leading others in developing solutions to design problems for work conducted with outside architectural consultants and contractors to review drawings, identify and note design/equipment conflicts, and provide equipment specifications; and leveraging innovation and ingenuity while forecasting complex equipment lists.
- Engages in project management responsibilities by: using innovation, ingenuity, and complex project management techniques and an advanced knowledge of project management to ensure, manage, and problem solve consultation with user groups, strategic partners, and regional leadership to perform a functional analysis of the equipment as it relates to operations and facility; leveraging an expert understanding of stakeholder management to accommodate various senior management level internal and external (e.g., equipment manufacturer, architects, vendors, contractors) stakeholder groups across organizational lines needs and conflicting demands to ensure the optimal use of medical equipment; and managing the key equipment criteria for the capital program, offering alternative solutions to the design teams to reduce initial or lifecycle cost while maximizing function, and without compromising patient care, ADA requirements, or ergonomics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience managing operational or project budgets.
- Bachelors degree in business, medical, healthcare, architecture, engineering, management or related field AND minimum six (6) years of experience in medical equipment planning, healthcare, clinical engineering, business, biomedical, IT, architectural or construction environment or directly related field OR Minimum nine (9) years of experience in medical equipment planning, healthcare, clinical engineering, business, biomedical, IT, architectural or construction environment or a directly related field.

Pay Range: $136600 - $176770 / year
