Description:
Assist engineers, document and perform preventive, safety, and corrective maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.
Job Summary:
Assist engineers, document and perform preventive, safety, and corrective maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
- Assist engineers in the diagnosis and repair of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of laboratory locations and instrument and equipment inventories.
- Perform and document scheduled preventive maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment.
- Diagnose, disassemble, reassemble, and test basic mechanical systems of laboratory instruments.
- Demonstrate understanding of/and perform electrical safety tests and procedures.
- Test, diagnose, and repair electronic circuits, employing the basics of analog and digital electronics.
- Effectively solder and desolder lCs and other electronic components to standards.
- Perform start-up, shutdown, operational, and functional tests on assigned instrumentation.
- Demonstrate elementary knowledge of the purpose, design, function, and principles of instrumentation.
- Demonstrate understanding and employ elementary quality control and statistical procedures.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Two years of experience troubleshooting clinical laboratory, electromechanical, optical, robotic, pneumatic or hydraulic equipment.
- Must complete and successfully pass the Basic Computer Literacy Assessment. (The Basic Computer Literacy Assessment score must be current within one (1) year. Please contact Human Resources for testing.)
Education
- Two year degree (AA or AS) in electronics, computer science, and/or biomed, or equivalent experience, which could include Military Biomed training.
License, Certification, Registration
- Drivers License (in location where applicable)
Additional Requirements:
- Good communication skills needed.
- Basic computer hardware and software skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in hospital/health care environment.
