Description:
Job Summary:

Performs a variety of routine clerical duties in support of the medical transcription function.

Essential Responsibilities:

This description is for recruitment posting purposes only. It has not received full HR review and approval.
- Sorts and distributes transcribed reports.
- Gathers missing identification data and types missing data into the transcribed reports.
- Flags reports for physicians attention of lacking all information.
- Follows up on problem dictation for completion and/or redirection.
- Assists in the operation of the overall central dictation system by locating missing dictation, re-recording dictated information, maintaining tapes, and alerting appropriate party of urgent needed reports.
- Responds to inquiries regarding dictated reports.
- Delivers reports to nursing unit.
- Answers department telephone.
- Orders and maintains department supplies.
- Maintains properly working equipment and reports problems to Department Administrator.
- Monitors timeliness of Admission H&Ps.
- Monitors timeliness of Operative Reports.
- Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations w/ the public, patients, and other personnel.
- Performs other related duties.
- Promotes, ensures, and improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent w/ the organizations philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations and quality service.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

• Two (2) years of hospital record department experience required.
• Medical Terminology required.
• Typing 35 wpm.
• All testing must be completed by the end of the posting period.
