Job Summary:

Oversees and/or performs routine, preventive, and maintenance on building systems at Kaiser Permanente facilities and provides an environment that is safe for members and staff. This position consistently supports compliance and Kaiser Permanentes Code of Conduct by adhering to federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements and Kaiser Permanentes policies and procedures. In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives. Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to purchasers, contracted providers and vendors.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Primarily performs industrial and commercial painting throughout all facilities. Will be required to be skilled in general carpentry, wall protection systems, drywall installation and repair. Must possess general knowledge in minor HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems in accordance with Regional Facility Standards, State, and Federal life safety codes.

  • Performs maintenance and repairs at assigned facilities as directed by Kaiser Leadership

  • Performs maintenance, minor repairs and construction based off an approved Qualified Idea (QI), (room conversations).

  • Performs preventive maintenance at assigned facilities and ensures proper operation of all building systems. Monitors work performed under services contracts.

  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs in regional facilities including carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems in accordance with leases and established regional facility standards.

  • Performs all Environmental and Safety tasks in accordance with appropriate Occupational, Safety and Health and Environmental Regulations.

  • Operates facilities in accordance with Local, State and Federal EHS Regulations

  • Documents steps or measures taken in performing tasks in accordance to EHS Regulations and infection control protocol.

  • Participates in the EHS assessment process and performing the necessary tasks or operation to achieved compliance with assessment recommendations.

  • Serves as liaison/contact person for outside contractors and vendors.

  • Insures the upkeep of building grounds. Reports to proper authority observations of any condition(s) that need attention around the exterior of the buildings, including parking lots and garages.

  • Assembles and installs equipment, accessories, art, and furniture for facility renovation or construction projects in accordance with regional standards. Installs owner furnished equipment as directed and in accordance with regional standards.

  • Responds to facility problems during working hours and while on call.

  • Removes leaves, snow and ice at facilities that may inhibit air flow necessary for the proper operation of air cooled equipment or block or clog storm drains, roof drains etc. as necessary.

  • Keeps inventory of tools and shop supplies.

  • Performs other duties within their field as assigned by immediate supervisor.

  • Minimum four (4) years experience of commercial painting, general carpentry, drywall installation and repair.

  • Minimum three (3) years experience in general facilities maintenance and repair of building systems in medical or industrial facilities.
