Description:
Job Summary:

A Neurodiagnostic Technologist performs all of the functions of an EEG Technician (36766) plus special procedure EEGs and monitors additional physiological phenomena by means of appropriate techniques under minimal supervision. Those techniques include but are not limited to Nerve Conduction studies, Visual Evoked Responses and intra-operative EEG monitoring. May provide training to EEG technologists and physicians.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
  • Performs all the duties of an EEG Technologist.
  • Performs Nerve Conduction studies under the supervision of a Neurologist.
  • Records and assists in the analysis ofvideo, ambulatory, and telemetry EEG for neonates, children and adults.
  • Records computer-averaged electrical responses to visual, auditory, somatosensory or other stimuli.Determines during averaging that the recordings are of adequate technical quality. Measures amplitude and latency of appropriate waveforms.
  • May perform transcranial Doppler studies.
  • Participates in technical meetings and other educational activities.Serves as in-service training instructor for junior staff, students and other medical personnel.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of digital EEG files on all computers in the Member Service Area.Coordinates the transfer of EEG files between Member Service Areas and Medical Office Buildings.
  • Performs troubleshooting on all digital EEG equipment when needed.Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
Basic Qualifications:

Experience


  • Minimum educational and professional qualifications must include at least one year of experience at the EEG Technologist level.

  • Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.

License, Certification, Registration


  • Basic Life Support



  • Registered EEG Technologist Certificate from American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential T



  • Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring Certificate


Additional Requirements:


  • Must be eligible to sit for the ABRET EP exam.
