Description:
Job Summary:

Under indirect supervision, operates EEG equipment and performs a variety of technical duties to measures impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain on patients in order to obtain data for use by a physician in the diagnosis of brain disorders.

Essential Responsibilities:

- Explain test procedures and purpose to patients
- Assemble patient education materials
- Demonstrate equipment for patient
- Follow standard infection control procedures
- Lift patients
- Observe, monitor and evaluate patient condition during and after procedures
- Prepare and position patients for diagnostic test and medical procedures
- Respond to stat requests
- Monitor patient brain wave activities
- Perform EEG, EMOG and EOG procedures
- Perform sleep studies and special studies
- Administer physician-ordered medications and solutions during procedures
- Record and chart patient data
- Interview patients and collect patient data
- Take patient medical and prescription history
- Prepare exam results for interpretation by physician
- Read and/or interpret tracings and note findings
- Consult with physician concerning test results and alert physicians to positive test results or test abnormalities
- Look up and report test results as requested
- Perform accurate measurements and calculations on diagnostic test procedures
- Maintain current records of all testing
- Soak and wash instruments
- Maintain equipment in good work order
- Clean procedure room
- Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed
Basic Qualifications:

Experience

• Will perform in-patient and outpatient testing
• Must be able to transport equipment form clinic to hospital
• Must be able to take appointment information form various areas of the hospital and clinic and contact patients when necessary
• Majority of work will entail sleep studies, routine EEG and possibly evoked potentials
