Under immediate supervision, performs clerical duties related to menu processing, including menu tally, accuracy in menu item selections, patient snacks, enteral feedings, and preparation and maintenance of computerized patient information system for patient meal service. Ensure that all menus conform to special physician prescribed requirements of patients. Keep all patient records accurate and current. Independently performs a variety of tasks to ensure high patient satisfaction with meals and patient food service. Responsible for the coordination and follow through of department communications.
- Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal and local laws.
- Keeps clinical staff informed of any requests for consults, teaching and/or calorie counts.
- Uses verbal communication including telephone conversations with Kaiser Permanente medical staff and co-workers.
- Provide lines of communication between Food and Nutrition Services (FANS) and other medical center departments.
- Processes and translates information, including new admissions, diet changes, transfers and discharges from computer patient information systems to patient menus and computerized patient information system and kardex files.
- Maintains material supplies including ordering, requesting, taking inventory, and distribution.
- May orient new employees.
- At least six (6) months of related work experience in food services.
- Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.
- 20 wpm or as required by medical center.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- N/A
- Effective verbal and written communication required, Proficient in English.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to modify and/or correct patient menus.
- Knowledge of infection control and sanitation with regards to food temperatures and personal hygiene.
- Knowledge of all therapeutic diets.
- Ability to text information using a touch screen device.
- Demonstrated ability to use an electronic device/tablets keyboard/touch screen to maneuver through patient selections.
- Customer service skills in dealing with public and problem solving any food related issues.
- Physical Demands:
- Must be able to frequently bend and or twist, stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and or carry cases of products weighing 20 pounds and must push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
