Description:
Salary Range: $53.36/hour - $69.01/hour



Job Summary:

Responsible for developing non-Physicians/APPs clinical team members, this role is focused on (1) education, (2) competency management, and (2) role/team member development. Leads programs and curriculum development that are evidence-based and designed to optimize the knowledge and skills of team members so that they can competently deliver core clinical services, proficiently support team members in managing their practice and prepare for new models of care delivery or changes in practice. Drives professional development throughout KPCO in alignment with the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) standards. Supports the clinical team, including senior leadership, in providing transformational leadership to achieve performance against national quality benchmarks.


Essential Responsibilities:

Transformational Leadership


  • Assists clinical and operational leaders in identification of performance gaps in maintaining standards, work environment factors, standard performance evaluation criteria/processes and effective training strategies to impact and maintain performance outcomes.

  • Coordinates, manages and assures continuum of education from orientation through annual required updates to include continuing education for nursing and unlicensed support staff in ambulatory care to include scheduling and coaching various presenters/trainers; evaluating presentations; providing feedback to presenters/trainers; and implementing suggestions for improvement of programs.

  • Develops and maintains partnerships with professional organizations, academic institutions, and external vendors in order to establish and maintain a competent work force.

  • Acts as a change agent within the interprofessional practice and learning environment.


Structural Empowerment


  • Analyzes assessment date to determine actual or potential practice gaps and their etiology Leads regional redesign work and professional development projects; actively communicates with all key stakeholders and ensures training and development projects achieve intended milestones and goals according to defined timelines.


Exemplary Professional Practice


  • Develops and delivers high quality, cost effective educational programs with content that is evidence based and follows standards of care and practice and is in alignment with Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures.

  • Develops material, education tactics, and programs that are based on adult learning principles and take into account novice-to-expert framework of skill development and knowledge acquisition.

  • Completes on-site/direct rounding with preceptees in conjunction with preceptors and leaders


New Knowledge, Innovation, and Improvements


  • Implements instructional and curriculum design skills; ensures methodology selected is appropriate for topic and audience and assists others in instructional design.

  • Supports a culture of innovation, inquiry and reflective learning

  • This position, knows and complies with all Kaiser Permanente policies, procedures and protocols. Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice in every interaction with patients, colleagues, providers, and leadership. Ensures patient safety in the preparation  and provision of care.. Adheres to legal and regulatory standards of the practice . Reports safety hazards, accidents and incidents, and unsafe working conditions promptly

  • Engages learners and key stakeholders in formulating expected outcomes of professional development initiatives to ensure quality care and safety

Basic Qualifications:
Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience in acute care, ambulatory care, and/or case/population management.
Education

  • Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) or healthcare related field.
  • In lieu of degree, currently enrolled in MSN or healthcare related program with documented plan to complete degree within one (1) year of hire.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Registered Nurse License (Colorado)
Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, and procedures as applied to the care of patients in different settings, strong customer focused skills, strong interpersonal skills and ability to successfully resolve conflict.
  • Nursing Professional Development Certification (NPD-BC) or American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) within one (1) year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a teaching/training environment.
  • Minimum one (1) year in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Experience in patient education development.
  • Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) with focus in education.
