Description:
Job Summary:

Leads the professional development of nurses and other clinical staff through the development of competencies, orientation, regional trainings, and other opportunities identified in collaboration with key stakeholders. Manages placement of clinical students and introduction of new graduate residencies, fellowships, preceptors, and supports ongoing professional development as it aligns with MAGNET designation. Supports professional practice advancement by providing continuing education, career advancement opportunities and role support, and other various professional development activities. Manages the day-to-day practice of the interprofessional and nursing educators. Clinical Education, and Simulation and its journey towards simulation accreditation.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Directs the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of interprofessional clinical educators and professional development consultant. Lets discuss changing the title from Professional Development Staff to Professional Development Consultants).

  • Collaborates with National Patient Care Services to include the voice of nursing and leads the organization towards Magnet and other evidence-based designations signifying excellence.

  • Evaluates the clinical practice of nurses, to include but not limited to scope of practice, nursing standing orders, standards, and protocols.

  • Leads Magnet planning to include ambulatory nurse engagement surveys and nurse sensitive indicators as indicated by the ANCC.

  • Participates in regional and national forums related to nursing and quality.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience


  • Minimum eight (8) years of clinical nursing experience.

  • Minimum five (5) years of leadership and/or direct management experience.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a clinical educator.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program required.
  • Masters degree in nursing or related field required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Registered Professional Nurse License (Georgia) required at hire
Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated negotiating, influence, and communication skills with a variety of technical, clinical, and management groups.
  • Demonstrated good presentation, communication (both written and verbal), organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of clinic and network provider operations required.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory/management experience overseeing a clinical education department.
  • MAGNET development and experience preferred.
  • Experience in Team STEPPS, High Reliability, operational excellence and simulation preferred.
  • Experience in and understanding of health care delivery in an ambulatory setting preferred.
  • Experience in managed care setting preferred.
  • Health care consulting experience preferred.
  • Experience nursing competency development strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of nursing regulatory and scope of practice requirements strongly preferred.
  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related field preferred.
