Magnet Designated Facilities
Attract and Retain Top Talent

Kaiser Permanente nurses actively participate in shaping their practice and designing the nursing care that is delivered to patients. Empowering nurses in this way results in better quality and safety outcomes for patients, more satisfied nurses, and more effective health care teams.

Our Extraordinary Nurses

Kaiser Permanente currently has 11 Magnet® designated facilities, which is truly a recognition of nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. Studies show that patients at Magnet designated facilities are more satisfied with their care, and they have fewer falls, pressure injuries, and catheter-associated urinary tract infections. Less than 10 percent of health care organizations in the United States hold a Magnet designation. Our goal is for every Kaiser Permanente member to receive care in a Magnet designated facility.

What Our People Say

Jane

MSN, RN, PHN, RNC-OB, EBP-C

My nursing colleagues inspire me with their engagement and curiosity. They question why we are doing things, ask how to improve, and don’t accept the status quo. Having a team who consistently looks for ways to improve the care we provide our patients is a gift.

Milanelle

BSN, RN, PCCN, CMSRN, Staff Nurse IV

The nursing unit councils are involved in decision-making for professional development, patient safety, and improvement of practice. Front-line nurses create the plans, vote on them, implement them, monitor trends, and create sustainability for all initiatives. It’s different. And you can see the immense pride.

Roy

BSN, RN, MSBC, Staff Nurse II

Board certification was important to me because I wanted to be up-to-date with current nursing practice in Medical Surgical. I encourage my colleagues to challenge themselves and to never stop seeking advancement in their practice wherever they are.
