The West Cobb Medical Center officially opens on Monday, Feb. 26, making it the health plan's third facility in Cobb County. The 26,000 square-foot facility opens with 12 exam rooms with capacity for an additional 15 exam rooms, providing adult medicine and pediatric services. Some gynecology services will initially be provided and specialty care will be added at a later date. KP West Cobb will open with lab and radiology service as well as an on-site pharmacy.
In addition to the West Cobb location, Kaiser Permanente will build two medical facilities. A new KP medical center near Stonecrest Mall in Lithonia and another one in Northwest Gwinnett in Sugar Hill/Buford are expected to open later this year. Once the expansion project is completed, Kaiser Permanente will operate 15 medical centers in a 20-county service area in metro Atlanta.
Kaiser Permanente of Georgia has received an "Excellent" rating by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), the nation's leading reviewer of health plan quality for consumers and employers. Excellent is the top rating granted by NCQA, which reviews satisfaction surveys, preventive measures, physician credentialing, member services, and improvement initiatives.*
The Southeast Permanente Medical Group, Inc., the physician's group that cares for Georgia Region members, received the American Medical Group Pre-eminence Award in 2002.
